We believe that children learn best through play. Our pop-up preschool program allows children the opportunity to learn through stories, sensory activities, crafts, and the ability to just be outside.
Wild Little Earthlings was founded by Emily Elliott, doula, herbalist, and mom. As her son grew older, she began to look into the idea of Forest Schools. Unable to find one nearby at the time that suited her schedule, and wanting to take an active role in her son’s learning, she created her own preschool curriculum encompassing stories, sensory activities, crafts, and yes, plenty of outdoor time. In fact, nearly all of the learning is done outside.
“Unlike television, nature does not steal time; it amplifies it. Nature offers healing for a child living in a destructive family or neighborhood.”
— Richard Louv, author ‘last child in the woods’
Heavily influenced by both the educational philosophies of Charlotte Mason and Rudolph Steiner (Waldorf), Emily strives to raise her son to be a compassionate individual with a love not only for his fellow human, but for the creatures and environment around him. It is that same passion and goal she carries into planning each pop-up preschool session.
You can find our programs throughout Northeastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks.
